Abstract | Describes the LegiSchool Project in California which cultivates democratic citizenship and competence in decision making by involving students in the state legislative process. Notes the success of this project with all students, including students at risk. Discusses three necessary conditions for that success: fostering student interest, providing respect for students, and developing student appreciation of citizenship itself. (SR) |
